Adolescents and Teens

The goal of Teen Group discussions is to allow teens a safe place to discuss their most pressing concerns while being guided by a trained group facilitator. Many teens are seeking a place where they can openly discuss relevant life issues that affect them on a day-to-day basis. Some of the topics of discussion in teen groups:

• How to understand me when no one else understands me • How do I let adults know that I am bullied without causing more problems for myself

• Is the pandemic ever going to be over? (Death, sickness, isolation, vaccination, food, parent’s employment, and school attendance)

• How do I tell my parents that I am sexually active? • Why do I feel sad all the time? (Signs of depression)

• What does it mean if I worry about everything, and I am always ready to fight? (Signs of Anxiety)

You are not alone. Everyone faces challenges at some point in their life. Social pressures, family, relationships, school demands, the after effects of Covid – any of these, or a number of other things, can be disruptive to our lives, and difficult to cope with. It is not uncommon to experience feelings of depression or anxiety, in combination with the stresses of life. The point is you are not alone and talking with others who have had similar experiences can be very healing and can help you gain a new perspective.

We know how difficult it is to be a teen, because adolescents come with their own dynamics, which must be acknowledged, and understood, in order to work effectively with them. Our team group program is an ideal choice when counseling becomes necessary. This group is designed to provide therapeutic group support to females age 12 to 16 struggling with communication, developing healthy coping skills, peer, relationships, family, relationships, social anxiety, and emotional well-being.
